Mcrea Scooby? buy it or not
Hi all,
well after selling my 1996 wagon I have done nothing but sulk around wanting another scooby........okay I blew the big end in my old one, and put a new lump in it.....
My old man is selling his RB5.........the guy who is going to buy it currently has a 1996 Mcrea (that used to be my dads as well) I can not afford the £7500 the old man wants for the RB (shame, it is awsome, 50K on the clock....one owner from new..him.....110% mint)
The guy wants £3000 for his Mcrea.....I know I can easily get him down to £2K simply because it needs a bloody good valet and tidy up....I'm just trying to determine if it is worth it....£2k for a 'tired' Mcrea or £2k on something else....thoughts team?
Thanks
H

cheers chaps
I'm sure to 'me' we could go for £2K, I have not seen the car for sometime, but my little brother say's it is quite a mess..I guess I need to look at it.
As for service, well......the car has run without a worry from day 1 (dad was the 1st owner)......he kept a full scooby service, Neil had taken it to Severn Valley Motor Sport once a year for a service oils etc....and basically just done what has been needed......I'm off home in a couple of weeks to will catch up with him and take it for a spin...he says there are no rattle and bangs...but he know ****e about cars.......
My brother in law (who is cheif service tech at scooby in Shrewsbury) say he would not buy it...not because of the engine, but the condition..I find it hard to believe it is that bad..I guess I will just have to see..........If I do get her I will let you know.......
Thanks

Even though a McRae is essentially just another subaru underneath, it is what it stands for that makes it worth more...
Afterall, would we all be driving and enjoying scoobies now, if a certain Colin hadn't done so well in the Legacy, and later Impreza...??
I think not.........
