Default scooby arguement lol

Ok myself and my cousin are discussing why the non turbo scoobies dont sound exactly the same as the turbo scoobies. i was told the due to the pistons going the opersit way it gives a different note to the engine.

He then said that fitting an aftermarket exhaust would make it sound exactly the same but a different volume.

Anyone care to put this to rest and explain it fully?

cheers guys

There was a guy on here a while back that posted a video of his normally aspirated impreza with a different manifold. Sounded better than a turbo.

I think it's something to do with the unequal lengths of the exhaust pipework going to the turbocharger - it creates a pulsing effect.

It is the standard length headers that come as standard on sport that rid a standard sport of its burble.

Alot of Sport owners (Myself included) invest in Borla unequal length headers and it unleashes the sexy burble normally only associated with Turbos. The only thing you dont get, which is obvious, is the whine from the turbo, but you dont notice that bit too much.

before and after borla videos - .:ImprezaSport.net Forums:.

I hope that link works, its some sound clips of the difference it makes with the aftermarket headers.

If you then decat pipe one and put a decent backbox on it makes it sound better still.

Hope that has help settle the debate.

Yeah, i have heard rumours of about 180-190 bhp figures, which is pretty good if your starting with 115 or 130 depending on phase 1 or phase 2 engines.

I think, unless you have the kind of money to allow an indulgance such as this, it would be easier, cheaper and obviously get better figures from just buying a Standard turbo.

Depends what floats your boat.

Edit - Sonic, you put your reply as i was typing mine. I thought the figures i had in mind were correct. Pretty good i'd say, but still pricey and a lot of messing. I THINK that revolution do some sort of Supercharger upgrade for a Sport, costs about £3000

Lol, everything is described as bloody 'Chavvy' now a days. Even wearing a baseball cap.

The sound of a scoob was one of the biggest attractions to me as well.

I am fed up of all the chav remarks. getting bored of it now, change the record i say. (Einstein, that wasnt a dig at you mate, i know you think the same as me )
