Default high mileage an issue?

hi, have seen an impreza for sale its a 2000 V however im concerned that the mileage is just too high...how long does the boxer engine normally go on for?

its done 130,000 the ad states 'The car comes complete with 10 Months MOT and 6 months tax. There is also a full service histroy with the car, of which 11 stamps are Subaru main dealer! and There are no out of tune noises coming from the engine, transmission or anywhere. It's in perfect condition mechanically. It has a full service history. The body work is also great with nothing to mention.

is it worth considering? its quite a distance so dont want a wasted trip if 130k is just too high!

cheers

Wouldnt bother me personally. If it sounds and drives ok and and no smoke from the zorst it should be ok and the price should reflect the high miles.Ask what has been replaced..clutch..turbo etc..no garentees with any car low mileage or high mileage

For me it would have to be dirt cheap. My Uk99 has 103k and i always have a nagging doubt in the back of my head that it will sooner or later, let go. It has done the last 15k running over 300 Bhp and 40k before that running over 260 so it does seem to have staying power
It's possible however that my "nagging doubt" is in actual fact me secretly hoping it will let go so i can go for some big numbers with a good excuse

Don't want to rain on your parade, but if it's done 130k, it's pretty certain that in the next year or two it's going to want an engine rebuild (£2000+), a gearbox rebuild (£700), a clutch (£500), sensors will start deteriorating (£100-£300 a time from Subaru). Running a leggy Impreza is not a cheap business. Only buy if it's being virtually given away or you're prepared for this expense. I know everyone says it's OK to buy a high mileage motor, but they're talking about Vauxhall Omegas owned and driven by double glazing reps, not Imprezas.

A shade under 5K seems way too much. I'm part exing my MY00 with 123,000 on the clock for a lot less than that. You can have it for £3000 cash if you want! With those miles on the clock for that car I wouldn't pay more than £3500. Have you looked in glasses guide or equivalent to see what the book price is?

These cars can do that mileage if Serviced correctly - £4999 is just WAY too much for a V Plate 2000 Impreza ...... and for that I would NOT buy it!

If was £3500 then it would probably be worth the risk ........

BUT

There are so many for sale that it pays to DEMAND the best - the BEST will only cost about 10% more than the crap.

This one has also been foooked about with - with STi and P1 bits and pieces?? I wouldn't touch it with UncleBucks!!

A V plate with half that mileage still commands about £6000 from a dealer, standard with FSSH. I would have thought £4500-5000 was reasonable.
