I think they are tiny, are they 600 or 900cc?? I had a play in a stripped out rally version on one of those red-letter-days gift experiences.

1.3 engine, 133bhp at 0.7 or 8 bar iirc (correct me if im wrong) Weigh anywere between 850kg - 900kg.

My old one weighed 880kg (TOM'S kit + 16's) and stripped out, and had around 160bhp, was pretty nippy!

Friend of mine got his down to 820kg with similar power

180-200bhp can be had out of the standard turbo if you know what your doing and run about a bar. A common turbo to put on them is the TD04L off an Impreza, then your looking at getting 200bhp very easily at 0.7 bar, internals wont take much more boost on that turbo though.

Handle like crap though, still not to be under estimated

Think you need to read up on your car knowledge there m8!
The Toyota Starlet Turbo came with a 1.3L turbo engine with two boost settings. You can toggle between low (115bhp) and high (130bhp).
These weigh less than a tonne and can be easily tuned to give 170-180bhp.

I used to have a video of me keeping up with a UK Turbo Impreza off a set of lights in mine

I'll have to see if i've still got that actually.

Great wee cars....I bought one when I was 18 as my first foray into Jap imports.

I had a turbo back stainless exhaust on mine that I bought for a company in Sri-Lanka (Starlets are popular there) and boost set at 1 bar. At 850kg, it was a very nippy wee car. Only paid £600 a year insurance at that age and got cheap road tax too due to the tiny engine size.

The only thing I had to do to it in two years was replace the clutch, it was extremely reliable.

Handling is a bit "wooly" round corners, but I'm sure with uprated shocks etc it could be improved. Nobody knew what they were when I had mine which was a bonus.

I want another one...

Funny this thread should start. There are a couple of these very local to me and I always have a sneaky peek at them. I wondered what sort of power these little ankle biters had and were capable off.

They're limited to 112mph, when mine was delimited it couldn't get past 120mph on the GPS the front bumper probably didn't help it though

Default Toyota Starlet

I have one of these...
Runs 180bhp and 180lbft of torque...
At Japfest last year there was very little that could live with it...
125mph up over Avon Rise...
Mind you she has got £1500 quid of Cusco coilover suspension and uprated roll bars etc...
