I had the early GSI, non cat. And IIRC that 8.6 time came from Parkers who are way out on most figures. Alot of mags had the GSI down at 7.4, the later catted models at 8. After I had the SBD full exhaust system it breathed cleanly to the red line and made a huge difference. No NA 2ltr could beat it to 60. I had a couple of run ins with Escort RST's and neither beat me to 60.

Alot of book figures have the Scoob at anything from 6.4 to 6.9 to 60. evo and others have them upwards from 5.2.

There were some nice mods to be done too that car aswell. Throttle boddies, cams and a new ecu would have lifted power to 200bhp, sufficient for SBD to tell be that it would wipe the smiles off numerous turbo owners.

The RS cosworth for an escort from 1995 to 2000 has impressive figures of 227bhp, 0-60 in 5.7sex & top speed of 144mph:O
The scooby has figures commonly regarded as a bit underestimated of 208bhp, 0-60 in 6.4 sex & top speed of 144mph

Nb that's the older vesion of scoob by the way & the 1990-95 RS cossie has 0-60 of 5.8 sex & 138mph from 227bhp

 

Ooooohhhh let me look for a copy of Max Power.......

In practice I dont care what the figures state I've owned both and the UK Scoob is faster to 60mph in standard trim...

 

most people would say standard uk 215bhp scoob should be good for 0-60 5.6-5.8

dunno about escort never been in one let along driven one

I owned one for a while... and got the tuning bug on the car... Tuning these is a lot cheaper than the Scoob

Scoob = 5.8s - Cos = 6.14s

Scoob = 15.04s @ 92.7mph - Cos = 15.84s @ 91.2mph

Top speed (1.7m runway)

Scoob = 133.7mph - Cos = 130.3mph

 

depends what standard scoob. standard STi - 5s, standard escort cossie - not 5s.

 

Yeah.. my sti 5 0-60 in about 10 seconds

I'll take on any Cossie under 400 bhp

I know I'll beat it,as my previous car at 420 bhp only just gets away from me!

djsp1, My Cav GSI would beat an Escort RST in standard trim. I could get that thing to 60 in 7 secs with the equiv of 2 people. ie just me.
