I'm not certain probably Tounge Track but might be the Mine city (mazda proving ground), the japanese equivilent of Milbrook or Nurburg ring quite a few jap vid's shot from same place,the s204 vid was shot there.

Is this the same as blipping the throttle just before changing gear ie as you go up the gear box?

Blipping is usually only needed on a downshift as the rpm needs to be increased to accomodate the lower gear. If you just slam it in the car becomes un-balanced by the additional engine braking. All IMHO of course, I'm no racing driver
