Question

No reason behind this question, just wondered!

a) is it ok to tow?
b) do you have to have all 4 wheels on ground?

was just wondering about the diffs etc if you had to get a tow.

Yes and yes, but better to low-load.

Just had to have Arbie towed the other week 'cos the damn remote transmitter went on strike.

Anyway, the guy low loaded it onto a truck but had a bit of trouble winching it one becuase the towing eye is well hidden behind the front spoiler. To his credit he was careful not to scratch the spoiler, make sure you also get someone who is.

The guy also said 4wds should only be low loaded, not just lifted at the front (on "Specs", he called them).

Aksan,

Do you know that you can use your pin code to deactivate the alarm and start the car without the remote?

e-mail if you need more details

I thought the manual said you must not tow as it's 4WD, only load onto a low loader. I don't have it here so can't check.

AS previous people have said better to low load but if you must tow make sure all wheels are on the ground and can rotate freely.

I low loaded mine 90quid for a 50mile journey. The RAC turned up with a truck that just pulls your front wheels but I wouldn't let them use it.

What happens if the police try to tow your scoob (Heathrow or London usually) by the front wheel?

Would the centre diff would lock and scrub the back tires till it broke?

Nick,

Even in neutral, the diff would attempt to lock and something would break

I saw a sticker or a plate on a P1 :
"Not certified for towing" or something similar.

I think you could tow one with all four wheels on the ground.

Kevin.
