Default Puncture Problem

I've just got back from Cyprus and my bro-in-law took my car in to get a puncture looked at, somehow a bolt had found its way into the tyre about 2.5inch from the edge. They're Bridgestone RE040's off my MY05 STi and it's been sent back to the manufacturer for professional repair. I'd have preferred to get two new tyres on the back instead of repairing it.

What are your opinions? Would you trust the repair or get new ones?

Cheers,

mervil

depending on how big the hole is a repair is just as good as anything wouldnt bother to much as it aint to near the side wall and would have lasted as long as the tyres did ive just had a tyre repaired with a nail stck through it and it makes no differance to the tyre apart from i dont need to reinflate it every couple of days

no problems, i would have thought that any repairs would have to be 100% safe...tyres cannot be repaired if they have been driven flat or side wall damaged

Thanks for the replies, the bolt was taken out at the garage and there was a slight leak. Apparently, Bridgestone will xray the tyre before sending it back. Just means I got no Scoob til Tuesday

They're charging my bro-in-law £60 for the repair including certificate. I thought that was quite a lot myself as a new tyre from mytyres.com is just shy of £100 (Garage quoted £170 for an RE040)
