I am going to look at buying a cheap 306 ive seen as a runaround for a while and ive seen a really nice one but the guy has no log book (lost it). If i do a hpi check and chassis number check etc is it safe to buy it? Would i be able to apply for a new log book? Normally i wouldnt touch it but its only a cheap car (few hundred pounds) and i urgently need a car for work so what do i need to check to make sure it is legit?

You can check with the DVLA online or by phone, if you have the reg no. they will tell you whether a reg. doc. will be sent out with no probs, if they say there might be a problem walk away, (might have a genuine reason but why chance it)?
