Question Knock Sensors

Do KI sensors actually work?

I'm planning on PFC'ing my 97 Turbo to hopefully 260-280bhp and was considering fitting a more obvious knock warning than the PFC engine-check feature but have been advised not to waste my money on the basis that they only pick-up knock when it's reached unacceptable levels - kinda defeats the purpose.

There's also a weblink I need to dig up where dyno operators have claimed that when testing such systems they hear knock well before the electronic monkey does.

So, the question is do I spend my money elsewhere (AFR gauge, etc) or is there a brand of knock-sensor out there that has objective data to support their claims of being able to actually protect your engine?

Speak to the person who will map the PFC.
Someone like Simon Roe (www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk) normally posts on here.

the pfc can be set to a level below where det occurs, speak with the mapper at the time. Not every noise that the sensors detects is knock, the mapper with det cans will know what level is det and can then set the cel to indicate at a level below this.
