Question Private plate - What do you think??

During the next 2 weeks i will have had my car PPP'd and was browsing on the DVLA reg website in my lunch today when i came across the numberplate

MY02 PPP

Its priced quite reasonably, and im wondering what the general opinion would be of a plate like this.

Obviously only people in the know will understand what it means, but i just thought it would make a change from having a WRX / SCOOBY plate on my car.

You opinions please? Thanks

Agreed, I have a simple one of my initials. Had it about 5 years and I think it looks good. Some people like my wife cannot see the point of a private plate.

Got a private one too, eventually. Approx £250 if I remember. The stealers put it on for me when I got the car. Always thought it was for w@nkers, but I think they are a lot more affordable nowadays (does that take away w@nkiness ?). I think it looks OK on the car and no it doesnt saw WRX or SCO O8 etc. I'm sure some people think its a waste of money as you could spend the cash on mods, but each to their own. Personal taste blah blah blah....

Not a fan of personal plates, but that is nice & subtle.

IMO private plates are a complete waste of money unless you get a really good one like "007" or something.

I particularly hate plates that don't quite work but have rubbish spacing and black dots all over the place to make them almost work.

I PMSL every time I see a BMW with a private plate, why do so many people with BMWs think that they're so great that they need a private plate.

I've got a private plate which I received as a birthday present. It has my initials on and the age I was on that birthday, I suppose they are useful as they don't give away the age of the car plus you could have the same registration number for the rest of your driving life if you so wished. The £100 transfer fee each time is a bit of a con though.

Buy it. I paused for a day on MY06 WRX and it was gone! Anyone know where?

Yes to transfer from one car to another or £105 to take off and put on retention.

If you'd pay £100K for that plate then you certainly deserve it!

Ive now found one thats a bit more personal but think this would be a nice little touch for the car, and dont mind leaving it on the car, suppose its adds to the value in some ways.

Thanks ppl.

That plate used to belong to ex-motorcycle and truck racing ace, Steve Parrish IIRC.

I've bought a private plate and it's waiting for me in New Zealand for putting on the new car.

Not bad at all for £200.....!!!!

I went for PIII and my initialls as the "1" on the plate are condensed together and moved well apart to make it distiinctive,

It also has PPP so 3 P's and PIAA covers kind match the PIII A** part of the plate (my mum of all ppl pointed that out after I had the plate)

ALWAYS use DVLA site tho as I paid 250 and the same plate was 380 at another well known plate site...

I love my Private plate it cost me £1,000 for a *1 CJE plate (not F1 is not out yet but its my Xbox live name and will be my plate some day when the dvla sell it) but some people would say that it stupid to spend that much on a plate but when I come to sell it I will get at least that amount and possibly more so it only really costs you the transfer fees which seems like a bargain to me

+ It fits my 06 wrx front bumper much better as I have the plate cut down to size…..
