Sometimes it works fine, but on other occasions the needle has a mind of its own.
Mainly at low speeds, between 0 and 30 it will flicker up and down until I accelerate and it seems to cure it. Sometimes pressing the odometer button cures it aswell.
Other times it will go all the way round to the wrong side of the resting place and will often stay there for a hundred or so miles !
Has anyone had the same problem and knows how to cure it coz its annoying trying to guesstimate what speed I am doind. Especially in 30's.

Many Thanks.

To be truthful I haven't looked for any loose wires etc, I was just being lazy, but apart from the speedo doing what I said above, no other lights come on (check engine etc) and the dashboard doesn't look like it has been tampered with.

On the last few cars i've owned where i'd removed dash the speedo and iirc rev counter where cable type connections (sorry dont do mechanic speak) which plugged into the dials, all the others (warning lights etc) were ribbon cable type.

Thumbs up

Used to run a few Peugeots, and the speedo cables would get full of crap and make the needle act in strange ways.

Try having a new speedo cable fitted.
