Front tyre wear outside edges - replace or swap front to back?
Just as the title. 20K service coming up soon and the car will be getting looked at, am I better off getting new fronts, or swapping front to back? It's a lease car and the leasing co pick up all bills, so there may be some hassle in asking for new tyres when the treads are 75% OK across the centre and inside edges.
I need to do something as these damper mornings are showing up the deterioration in grip.

I've swapped the fronts with the back with no noticeable ill effect.
I think it's probably best to swap fronts with back every few k anyway just to ensure even wear across all tyres.

If they're wearing on the outside edges get you geo done by someone who knows what they're doing. Current tyre regs state 1.6mm across the centre 3/4 width of the tyre with visible tread around the outside edges, so if it's worn the tread away they may be illegal.

Hi, I've also got a company car and i've gone through a shed load of tyres recently through picking up nails and stuff. I don't think you'll have much to worry about, the lease company should pay up with no quibbles especially if this is the first set of tyres.

Ha, I'm about 13K miles too late then... They're the original Bridgestones, and the front outside shoulder is now pretty much smooth. According to earlier posts the tread must be visible on that shoulder to be legal, so I reckon a new pair will be in order.
I don't want to go to Kwik Fit, as they probably wouldn't have the OEM Bridgestones to put on it, so I'll get it done at the dealer (assuming the lease co doesn't come over all stingy...). I don't get to pick and choose brands, or to get the geometry set up unless I pay for it myself, which I don't fancy doing. I buy enough drink for the damn thing already.

Tires wear the outside edges when driven "briskly" round the corners, and there isn't too much negative camber on the geometry set up.
If you have the negative camber increased, you wil have less wear on the outside edges, but the inside edges will wear if you do a lot of motorway/A road driving.
Mark.

I do however often take the long way home for some fun, and that features several roundabouts, which is 90% of the tyre wear accounted for.

I have some wonderful tyre wear on the insides ? whats that due to ? Insides are like slicks on the shoulders middle section about 3.5m - this is all on the fronts. I just put it down to some good fun driving ?

The inside edges wear when you have a lot (relatively) of negative camber, and mainly drive motorways, and A roads.......... sure I said that earlier
