What do V8 diesels sound like?
Have owned two petrol V8s so know that the soundtrack on these - especially the Ford and Rover models - is addictive. But what are the v-configured diesels like, eg. the new Range Rover V8 and the VW Touareg V10?
Are they still clattery beasts or what?

Have been driven in a Tourag V10.
Clatters a bit when idling (especially from outside), but that goes away once you're moving - engine note is quite high pitched for rpm you are doing (guess that's because of lots of cylinders). And it was *very* quick - about as fast as a WRX, up to 60 anyway.
I think all VW diesels clatter at idle, even V10s.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
6cylinder BMW 530D Sounds good, so V8's must sound pretty good too.. never going to match petrol's though.
