Default Tricked by scoobynet member

hello everyone

Recently joined this club as there are some very helpful members out here, who really look out for you and offer you great advice and help.
However, i recently got tricked by scoobynet member who took advantage of me being a newbie and sold me a wrong item.

Well in short, i decided to buy a replacment turbo till i sent my td05 for a rebuild as it started to smoke. I had advertised in the wanted section in classifieds on scoobynet, specifically looking for a td04 turbo and got several replies.

eventually got contacted by a member who claimed to be selling a td04 turbo and we agreed to a price. I travelled about a 100 miles to get there. I met the guy and bought the turbo off him, a painless swift transaction!
The turbo itself seemed in good condition but couldnt check it carefully as it was quite dark, as we met outside somewhere in wolverhampton.

This weekend, planned to book my car in so got the turbo checked and it seemed to have an ihi initals on it. Spoke to some members out here today and found out that i have been sold a V10 turbo instead of a td04, which comes of legacy and incomparison is a shi**y turbo to a td04.

I feel really sick to find out that there are some members out here who are so money oriented that they will trick you into buying the wrong things. I just want every new member to know so in future they can avoid such a situations and such members. Really gutted and have pm him already .. but havent recieved a reply as of yet!

You said V10, do you mean the IHI VF40 (that's a TD04 replacement, but arranged to fit the intercooler on the Legacy 2.5) ?

Correct!
Name and shame.
This behaviour is not acceptable (anywhere) but especially in 'our community'.

Name and shame.

Graham.

NO wait and give the member fair chance to put his side of the story... he may have been sold it as a td04 himself and sold it on the information he was given......

dont shoot the guy until you have actualy spoken or atleast given a fair time for him to reply.

if you have his number call him...

Oh come on, you can't get the information wrong!!!!

Haven't the IHI turbo's go a little plate at the top of the turbo that gives the model number.

IHI VF10 looks nothing like TD04

it was me i sold him the turbo in good faith to him it was not a trip out of his way he was visting relatives in birmingham, i sold the turb in good faith as to the best of my knowledge it was a td04 i took off of the engine fitted to my my94wrx saloon which turned out to be a wagon engine, he had every chance to check the turbo was correct and present i put black ink on the inlet houseing to make the etchings more readable he had made no attempt to cantact me about the problem (innocent mistake) to rectify it, so please every one make of it what you want

i think everyone is FAR too quick to jump on the thread bandwagon here as soon as somebody says somebody MAY have done something bad.....its...OH HE MUST BE X,Y,Z con man,"DICK HEAD",whatever....

he has now posted a reply and wasnt even given a fair chance to rectify before this thread was made.....

straight question requiring a straight answer...

gaz-cole - you contacted a member who wanted a td04 told him you had one... met up he bought it from you in good faith that you were selling what YOU HAD OFFERED.... but it turned out NOT to be correct.. only way foward is for you to offer a FULL REFUND. will you do this?

basicly mate i have stuck up for you on this but now your here its time for you to do what right.......question is ....WILL YOU?

dude tbh YOU are the person that came on here and posted it was you.... all he said was " A MEMBER ".... i totaly agree with you that protocol should have been to call you as soon as he realised and give you the opertunity to put it right....

ok so you both made mistakes....

offer the guy a refund....

neither of you come out of this looking bad and we can get on with life...

nobody died.....

just let it drop and sort this between yourself...

BEST THING HERE IS FOR A MOD/ADMIN TO CLOSE THIS THREAD SO IT DOESNT GET OUT OF HAND...

I think your find at the bottom of his post he stated he had tried to contact him but has not had a reply yet.

If you'd bought something that wasn't what you wanted or what was advertised and then tried but failed to get a response from the seller, you would of posted in the very same way.

End of the day, You should know what your selling and even more important you should know what your buying!!!

Fullboost. I'm not sure where you live, But I have a TD04 off of a My99 uk turbo sat in my shed, if your local to wales your more than welcome to it. Only problem I'm off to thailand for two weeks tomorrow morning

We all should learn from this, esp fullboost, had he bought it from someone in ebay he wouln't have got anything back...not even an apology. With all due respect if he didn't know what the turbo looked like shouldn't he have done a bit of research?! google?
