Oh I nearly pissed myself......

Waiting at a T-junction, Vauxhall Corsa coming towards me, I'm thinking WTF is that on the front, get's closer, it's a Scooby bonnet scoop, grafted appallingly on the bonnet. I'm laughing so hard, I let him in front. He looks in his mirror, thinking Hey I'm SO cool, I've a scoop as well as puffa, and a greasy slick hairdo. The best thing is as I pull in behind him I realise it's a fekking 5 door Corsa Diesel!!, WITH and this was the ultimate icing on the cake a MAX POWER sticker crookedly slapped on the back window.

He see's a gap in the rush hour traffic and has go, all the time looking in the mirror, to see if I've bitten. I'm laughing so hard I can hardly see and let him go.......

Sometimes life can be so funny.....

So come on chaps, what's the best place you've ever seen a scooby scoop......?

There's a G-plate Metro that 'cruises' around SW1 which has a scooby scoop on, as well as an industrial size baked bean tin welded onto the exhaust. Usually contains one or more puffa-wearing muppets.

Just changing the subject sightly I was accosted by a pair of muppets at the golf club yesterday. Pimply, puffa equipped muppet and girlfriend ('girl' used in the loosest sense of the word) came sniffing around the car and after asking what it was (perhaps the Subaru badge on the back isn't big enough ) came out with "pukka car mister, we're well Max Power". Took me a good 15 minutes to stop laughing.

Is someone putting summat in the water thats making the muppets worse?!

Worst place I've seen a scoop? On EVERY fecking non-scoob I've ever seen with one, ever since my own got swiped from outside my old flat in Edinburgh.

It's the sole reason I cancelled my MY99 DBM I'd waited patiently for over 8 months for, it annoyed me so much. Sold my scoob, too, reckoned it (*he* actually, for he was of the masculine gender )deserved better than being vandalised by some scummy low-life.

I got in the scooby game in mid '97, before JD Power etc. and few people knew what the car was at all. Since then, it's kinda become a victim of its own success and I suppose it was only a matter of time before Max/Revs/****, **** cracks and Pretend Fast Cars Monthly cottoned on to it.

The beginning of the end for me was when one of the aforementioned publications showed how to fit a scoop to a Clio.

"Oh F***" I thought, and I was right.

On a brighter note, I have a garage now, so less of a problem parking my Golf overnight. No fecking money for another scoob , though!

Can I ask how scumbags manage to take off the bonnet scoop without recking the poor cars bonnet and by the way,I am one of the rare people on this board who actually owns a Subaru and I dont intend trying to steal one.I was getting in to my car yesterday when I saw a guy who had a Corsa and he was looking at the scoop on a Forester S turbo,he even put his hand on it and tried to see how well stuck on it was but he drove off after seeing I was watching him.

But I bet it was keeping his shopping cool on the way back from Tesco's though !

I was coming out of Marwell Zoo a few weeks ago & saw a Scooby scoop grafted onto a Nissan Micra - complete with 27" wheels & Spotty Oiks. They were waving & leaning out the window at me as if to say "wow YOU have a scoop too"
Having just had my wipers & washer jets removed in the monkeys enclosure & wasn't in the best of moods.
Needless to say I blanked them.

I hope you made a mental note of his number plate, Kevin!

My friend and I both own scoobies, but he had the misfortune of having his bonnet butchered when some thieving low-life decided he'd rather take what belonged to someone else than pay for it.

Grrr...

now I aint biting, you understand - I'd just like to point out that a few of them cars wearing scoops do so because the scoob one is a damn good design - and when you've got 4 hungry ram pipes to feed across the back of the engine, it does the job a lot better than anything else on the market.

I paid 150 notes for mine, from a Subaru dealer - and would like to distance myself somehow, despite the fact it's on a mk2 astra , from the sticker wearing Nova/Saxo brigade - though, be warned, micky takers - a few cars (probably less than 1% ) have them for good reason [insert witty rejoiner here]...

Blimey I did'nt realise how prolific this disturbing trend was.....

Thing is by looking at some of the cars pictured above, they have had thousands spent on them. Why did'nt they just BUY a whole scooby, not just bits of one (assuming they were bought of course )

Thanks the pics... I feel quite ill now.....auto-extreme.com seem to have a lot to answer for.......

Saw one on a Nissan Micra once. Made me giggle that did. I'm sure he had an intercooler under there, they all do don't they?

Last time I popped into my local Scooby dealers they had had some Max dudes round the previous night and they had attempted to remove four of these from the forecourt with the aid of screwdrivers etc. Failed attempt but damaged Scoobs.

Can you electrify the scoop? Surely no-one has the right to be there in the first place without causing an offense to your car. I know you wouldn't get away with wiring up the door handles or similar but scoops...?

Sad sad world.

On an Citroen Saxo, large bodykit, big roof spoiler and an original (really) Impreza bonnet scoop with aluminium-look "mesh" inside!
I wished I would have had my camera ready...
