Question V2 STi 555?

Im a bit confused by my STi 555 ...I know it's not an RA (Ive got leccy windows, air con & side skirts ...& no dccd) even tho' ive got a roof vent & my chassis no. tally's with it being an STi

but...

Im hitting an indicated 140 kph/ 85 mph @ 4K rpm (so real world 76' ish) ...which tally's with an RA close ratio box?

Anyone else with a 555 shed any light? ...& was there ever a close ratio box without dccd???

Sounds like an STI V2 V-Ltd; the STI Type-RA was a 'DD'.

Cheers Si,

It must have had a gearbox change at some point then ...either that or my math is cr4p!

I was planning on swapping to a dccd & close ratio box anyway ...so all i need to figure out now is if there was ever a 3.9 box without dccd? (WRX Type RA?)

I have the same car mate and i was on the same lines of thinking when i got mine. The cars basically a standard sti 2 with a few extras like the roof scoop. My box also feels similar to an r.as ratios.

JDM Impreza WRX STi RA Ver.II MY96 (also STi RA 555 & RA V-Limited Ver.II MY96) TY752VB4CA: (1st)3.454; (2nd)2.333; (3rd)1.750; (4th)1.354; (5th)0.972 (final)3.900; (centre differential)DCCD (35:65)

These are the ratios for an STI V2 Type-RA; as you can see theyre much closer.....(with a lower final drive though).

No probs. Either or, mine accelerates really well in first and second, could definetly do with some mapping to spice up 3rd though!
