Just a post to say hi, as i have been a long time reader and have taken the pludge and just purchased a 04 plate WRX.

Now in the process of grinning all the way to and from work!!

Items that need replacing/upgrading on the 04 plate are Exhaust... and Stereo..

Is it easy to do a DIY swap of the back box?

Steve

Welcome to SNet

Don't buy the stereo until you've swapped the BB, you won't use it after

Other essential mods are the rear ARB and droplinks to tighten up the handling, better brake pads (if it has OE crap fitted), then more power

Welcome to SN.

Yes, definitely get the BB first. I hardly have the stereo on, i just love the sound of the car.

Ninja gets the vote from me. But it depends on noise wanted.

I want a deeper sound than the twin, was thinking of trying a Prodrive (used)backbox to start with then go from there...

For the stereo was going to upgrade to a single CD headunit and upgraded speakers with underseat Sub. budget on stereo was no more than £250-£300

If you're getting a Prodrive BB then get a decat mid section too. It will still pass the MOT and will free up some ponies and much more sound. The Prodrive BB is good (made by Scorpion) and any decat centre will be fine as it's just a slightly bent pipe. If the noise was to be too much then the Prodrive decat centre has a resonator in to tone things down.

Neighnour has the afterburner one and it too loud, got 2 kiddies to think about as i am trying to comprimise with the sound inside the car aswell...

Just found out today from the garage my car has the STi Suspension on which now explains why the car rides a bit harder compared to another i drove.

I am happy at the moment with the 225 bhp, but i am looking to change before next summer to a late blobeye STi PPP depending on house purchase.

Thanks for the advice

Steve
