When i got my UK turbo my mate said try not to push it past 6k rpm


Is this true or crap??

I rarely get go over that anyway just feels a bit odd!

 

My mates brother had a version 2 WRX (JDM) and he redlined almost every gear when he took me out for a 'quick' spin.

 

You will find better acceleration times changing gear before the red line. It will vary from car to car but on a WRX, typically from 5,400-6300rpm.
No point holding to 7k even if you are a boy racer with a thick wallet (or brain)

 

All though he did sell the wrx for a bike - serious speed freek!!

 

On a std Uk turbo, its not worth going over 6k really; it's run out of puff on the std set up and only really makes more noise at this point! Peak power is around 5.5k IIRC. Bouncing any car of the redline regularly isn't a good idea really; it's a limit, not a target.

yeah thats what i was thinkin NS04, i havent redlined it yet, got to near 7k in 3rd a few days back,

Mines not standard, its chuckin out about 265bhp!

Will be happy when i get to 300!! then insurance criples me lol!!
