As the sun shone on my dash at lunchtime I saw a FWD light in the dash.

Is this a 'your AWD has failed' light or something else?

As far as I know it means that the AWD drive has failed and the car is now Front Wheel Drive FWD only.

Thumbs up

On Automatic models the drive to the rear wheels can be disconnected for maintenace, this is done by inserting a fuse in the FWD connecter in the engine bay.
Does not apply to manual cars.

When this is fitted the FWD light illuminates.
