Economic Driving

OK, sensible (i.e. boring)question:
Stuck in single file traffic - no chance to overtake - so i'm sure everyone practices economic driving (gentle acceleration, limited braking etc etc) . The question is:
What sort of rev's do you guys change gear at to ensure maximum mpg? I'm sure it can't be healthy to change too soon and make the engine struggle...

On the daily grind, I tend to either change up at 2500rpm or give it a gentle shove on-boost before changing up (which would probably mean 2800 max). In 1st gear traffic I try to hang back a little so I don't have to drop the clutch much and just let it chug along on tickover.
Gets me about 280-300 miles to reserve (my00).

As above, I try and change up around 2750, and not let revs drop below 2000 unless pottering in a queue in 1st gear. I just don't like to lug the engine at less than 2K in anything above 1st ... hangover from my biking days, my old Kawa 400 triple's manual stated minimum rpm as 3000 otherwise you risk main bearing / ring wear.
