Talking STI 8 - Here i come....

Well guys thanks for all the help in my previous posts....My search started with a P1 originally, then i decided on the STI 7, and then the STI 8...and slowley but shurly my budget increased as i guess the more i wanted it the further i reached into my pocket!

Last night i drove 100 odd miles up north to view / buy a Scooby..
  • Subaru STI 8 Black
  • 35K on the clock
  • Full Subaru Service Hstory
  • All the STI original goodies
Now never driving the STI 8 before i was actaually very impresed with the drive and the engine sound alsoThe handling was awsome..and the car is standard and i did not really find it too slow...the 333 conversion is planed however i think it will not be an immediate requirement...

I was thinking blue, however decided on the black as i fell there are not many of them about...though i guess cleaning the car will be a pain in the back side!

Have left a deposit on the car and hopefully get the car Monday / Tuesday....

Also i noticed the car has I/C spray...is this standard on all cars? Also does this spray it self? or is there a button to activate it manually?

Congrat's. Had my MY03 Sti for two months and its great.
I went for a WR Blue car but this was mainly due to condition and very low mileage.
Enjoy the car when you get it and don't worry about the fuel bills
Sti's have the ic spray as standard and it is manually operated with the button to the right of the steering column.

Enjoy

Nik.

So how do you know when to use it? and does it infact cool the intercooler down for a period of time? or just enough...

As i bought mine in March temeratures haven't been high enough to use it.
I suppose if you were in stationary traffic in summer say, engine and air temps might be high therefore a press of the button followed by a sequence of squirts before blast off will drop the temperatures enough to maximise power.
It may also have a certain amount of gimic factor about it also

Ah, I miss pressing that I/C button that makes something, somewhere on the car go 'whirrrrrrrrrrrr'

Never had the need to use it........

Okay...here the problem...any thoughs welcome of how i can get around this issue..

The guy ows £9k to the finance company, which he needs the money to pay for the car..

I was thinking:
Call up the finanace company, he will also do the same, and arrange for the cash to be put in to the bank of the finance company to clear the HPI. (go to the bank with the guy) Pay him the remaining cash and drive away with the car...

Anyone here got any better suggestions?

Not sure, sounds dodgy to me. Whats to say he'll hand over the car after youve transferred the cash? Get a contract written up or something.

How about getting the final settlement payment from the finance co, you then paying them off with a direct bank payment (after taking the v5 of course ) and giving the guy the rest?
The finance co will write to the guy who owes the cash saying that its been paid off...

Can't you do a card payment over the phone to the finance company? Then you'll both know it's been paid and you can take the V5 and keys once the payment has been authorised??

How intelligent, posting obvious tax evasion on a national website hopefully they won't read your post . Thought you were going to Japan to buy a car then you were after an Evo bet this deal will fall through as well???????

Don't forget you'll get reported spending over £8k in cash, just to warn you as you don't really seem to grasp the strict money laundering regs

Surely not for buying a car privately?!? Or do you mean in paying the finance co off?

Anyway, if it doesn't work out Sam, mine's sitting waiting with no finance and HPI clear, perfect condition, blah di blah. Good luck mate and happy motoring if you do get sorted tmrw,

Jerry

Buying privately you'd be fine but any "large" cash payment to a VAT registered business and you do risk being reported to C&E. Not nice Always, always ask the company you are dealing with if they are duty bound to report cash payments if you find a bag of cash under the bed

Glad you've edited your post SamUK, always remember to try not to hang yourself in public , very dangerous. If you are taking the 'under the bed' route i'd strongly suggest buying a car that has nothing owing on it. Look on the bright side as you can always start yet another i have found a car again post

Thanks for all the posts....

Getting a car over from Japan would have taken little over one month, and then i thought if can raise little more money i can get the car sooner...EVO 7, i was thinking as they were cheap, however i decided against it as i wanted a Scooby (3rd one now)

Okay, just spoke to the Finance company, who have advised the following:

Get the person who has the finance to call them and ask them to allow me 24hour access to the account.

They will then fax me the setlement figures along with the Bank details to pay the cash into.

I will then have to drive down and go to the bank with the guy selling the car, hand over the cash to him and then ask him to pay at the counter. This way i will not have to diclare the cash he will!

The banks advied this is safe and will clear straight away.

All done, pay him the remaining and drive away with the car.

Ofcourse i will not be going on my own...

Or......buy a car for cash with no finance outstanding, like.......oh yeah - mine, for instance. (Might be able to meet you between your offer and my asking price)

Tempting...but i have left a deposit on it....

Finance is no issue really, i have all the paperwork, it will be paid and i will drive away with the car..Within two hours of payment i will have clarification on paper that the finance is cleared...

But if something does happen, i will keep the offer in mind...

Okay...so now i have my car....

Just raced my brothers S4, and the Scooby in standard form is just as quick...the Turbo Lag is there and he did get a head start but once the turbo peaked i cought up to him...by we were level at the end of the road...

However...seems the Scooby's grip on the road is not as good.... as the S4's..The scooby is running Michelin tyres maybe they need changing.... First run from stationary i wheel spinned in the same place till i run out of the 1st gear...

Car is currently very dirty inside and out, and needs a good clean clean...i will get some pics up after all is looking
