Seems pretty disgusting that Rebecca's been put through 3 days of upset because of these parasites.
I gather it was parked outside her home. How come these parasites were able to tow it away from there...?

There'll be a full report from Bex as soon as she can get to a pc, probably within the hour

dont the private car clampers clap the car first for a couple of hours before towing it away? i am sure i read it somewhere that that's the normal procedure. you got to check that the car was "lifted" away and not tow into a ram and taken away, else they can damage the brakes/suspension.

They are suppose to clamp the car for an hour then take it away but ive found that in london they just take it away without giving you an hour (then they charge you more money to get your car back)

You can ask me about it n'all......
Apparently the whole of Croydon is a tow away zone...even when parking on a single yellow on a bank holiday Monday
Its a wierd feeling - feeling sick, worried, angry and full of adrenallin at the same time whilst walking to the police station to report it stolen, praying that its ONLY been towed . Then a bizarre combination of relief, joy, more adrenallin, anger and pure hatred of the tossers that towed my baby....
I was so incensed that at the pound I asked for a complete explanation of the towing procedure, method used and a total inspection of my car before paying and signing anything. fair play to them they lifted it onto a flatbed using straps, they even showed me photos all the stages. the only bits that touch the car is 3 rubber tipped bits of metal that locate on the rim of each wheel and 2 metal plates that take the wieght of the car under each tyre. At least the tossers has had enough practice over the years - got to pay for that tramlink somehow
Never will I misread those parking signs again...£160 says I don't....

Good news after all ... Bex' car back, BillBill back, ...
Ron ... would there be mitigating <sp?> circumstances if Bex went there and just punched one of them in the gob ? Just wondering

Dan,
Yes they do still offer this service, when I rang the police they gave me a number to ring for Trace (?) which checks London-wide to see if your car has been towed. The police also rang to check when I reported the car and they had no record of it being towed away. But it could be that it only covers council car pounds etc and not private contractors ... which I agree is annoying because as a result of being told that it hadn't been towed I had assumed my car had therefore been stolen ... a reasonable conclusion to reach under the circumstances.
So warning to everybody else basically ... don't assume that if your car is gone in London that it has been nicked ... it may have been towed after all ... but tracking down who was responsible may be more difficult.
