I am looking for another impreza and someone local has one for sale, it is a facelift 97P only 34K and I know it has been looked after.
I have always wanted a white one cause I personally think they look the biz but I don't want to have trouble selling it as I have been told they are slow to sell in white.
I would very much like to hear you're opinions on this matter, should I buy it.....buy the way it's up for 11.5k

Cheers Daz

Down to personal taste - white is about the only Scoob colour I wouldn't consider. The car trade in general don't like white cars. I'd say its a bit pricy at 11.5k in todays market even if it was a decent colour

Cheers,

Ian.

P.S. maybe I'm biased after a bad experience with a white Scoob....Cop Car

P.P.S. I've got Gold Wheels so who am I to comment!

Personally I like the Impreza in white. A mate of mine has one & he keeps it looking very clean.
Not sure I'd want one myself though - I'm a bit lazy on the cleaning duties

I think you know the answer to this one already. I agree that white looks cool on rally type cars, but without a doubt, white cars fetch considerably less at resale in this country and are a lot harder to shift.

When I was looking for an Evo 6 last year, the white ones were going for up to 4 grand less than other colours, so although I liked them in white, I went for silver to be safe.

The car market as a whole isn't brilliant at the moment, so buying a white car may not be too sensible. The only exception of course is if you get the car very cheap to start with, then you'll be able to sell it cheap later on without losing too much.

I would say that £11.5K isn't an amazing price for any colour turbo of that year anyway. Have a look at www.autotrader.co.uk to see what you might get for your money. Don't forget, prices are more flexible than ever, if you're clever you should be able to negotiate a grand or so off the asking price quite easily..

Good luck mate.

Spudgun, I don't dislike DBM, but I would never have one that colour.

I am a fan of silver.

Darren, it is up to you, have it in whatever colour you wish

And enjoy

White cars in general are harder to shift thanother colours but at the end of the day as Cilla would say "the choice is your". But i must agree with the other guys 11.5k for any coloured car of that age is a tad bit on the expensive side low mileage or not.

Except special editions, the Type RA that I have only came in white, so once I decided I wanted that model there was no choice - but after 1 year with it, although as you all say it looks great when clean, I am concerned over resale. But then again, I am not selling yet, so sod it.

Spud, have to agree, don't like DBM, but its a personal thing

Had a couple of white cars. No worse to keep clean than black.

White is aboslutely and unequivocably THE best colour for hiding day to day scratches, etc. Unless you are a total bodge, the way light reflects from white means that touched in stone chips are easily hidden too. Its also a fairly strong paint pigment generally and easy to match and blend in event of damage due to resistance to fade.

Personally I like Scoobs in white

White is hard to keep clean, but then my Silver / Grey one is also a dust magnet (& birds of the flying type).

I looked at a couple of white ones before i bought it and saw that you can see stone chips from miles away. The front of the Scoobs seem to chip easier than other cars and the undercoat on the white ones i've seen were, get this, black.

If you get a white one, put a couple of coats of Teflon polish on it quick and you'll get along better.

Cool

My last car was white and I have to say it was totally excellent for covering up scratches and stone chips etc. It is now 8 years old (my mum drives it now) and when it has had a good wash it still looks pretty good. There is a 2 inch scratch on the door which is totally invisible unless you are a foot away from the car and loking in the exact right place. Imagine getting away with that on a DBM car!!

The other good thing is that once you have washed it you don't even really have to bother drying it off properly as you can't see the water marks on it. Compare that to my DBM Impreza which unless you dry it off properly looks as dirty as when you started in sunlight.

Afraid it is going to have to be Silver cars for me from now on as they seem the best compromise between scratches/swirl marks and even older silver cars look much tidier and newer than an equivalent dark coloured car. Black cars are a definite no-no as I am concerned as they always look dirty and show up every tiny scratch. Try looking at a black car in direct sunlight to see how easily they get covered in swirl marks.

White is ok if you keep it nice and clean (but that goes for any other colour!)

There is one 1 scoob i would consider in white and thats a P1

Yes there is a single development car somewhere out there in white! SIDC FAQ mentions this car and i saw it for sale recently (cant remember the asking price thou)

Firstly a big thanks to everybody for the great advise and opinions I'm going to look at the car tommorow and I think he will shift on the price cause I know he wants to sell. As for keeping it clean, that don't bother me in the slightest I have had 2 series 1 rs turbo's(sorry to mention this on a scooby site I know how passionate you all are about them!)and as you might know they only came in white but when polished you can see them coming a mile off.

I'm starting to get excited now cause I'm going to be in the driving seat soon, and I love talking to people on the bbs cause you all know and understand the buz you get when driving one.

And guess what.........it has gold wheels!!!

Cheers Daz

Think fully colour coded white with gold rims looks the dogs danglies! Personally a DBM man myself. Just for interest, got my MY01 serviced yesterday and they still have a white MY00 sitting in the showroom 8 months after i bought my "b.e.w.".

ps always found previous white cars a hell of a lot easier to keep clean than 2 DBM's.

if u like white, like the car, get it for a good price and are gonna keep it a good while then ok.

otherwise be careful.

white cars are not popular. how many white scoobs do u see ? or for sale? how much they going for if u do?

personally i'd never touch a white car. 90% of people dont want them. resale value will be bad compared to metallic colours.
