I actually thought all the Jap scoobies had a TD05 as standard, it was just the mapping on the standard ECU that decided what the power out put would be,
i.e. 260 bhp early models WRX, and 280bhp for the STI,
I also would be interestd in what a RACING ECU is exactly

If you are upgrading you turbo no matter what you do I would suggest you look at an aftermarket mappable ECU, before you put the new turbo on.
Jap cars over hear are already at risk from the lower octane petrol, therfore the dredded det.
By putting on a bigger turbo your throwing in more air therfore you may lean out your engine and BANG

I would double check your turbo make, before anything else as my 95 WRX came with a TDO5 16G as standard, you can get this turbo with an 18g or a 20g, more than enough for high 380bhp,

Kev

Aside from the mapping issues pointed out below -which are critical- you also need to be aware of the issue of gearbox longevity. You've got a 12 year old car, putting a TD05 on it -if you intend to run it to its potential- would most likely be the kiss of death for the gearbox- then you'd need to budget for a a replacement/rebuild (not cheap).

You might want to look at a TD04 hybrid from Andy F.

To be honest though, any power upgrade is a bit of a gamble.
