Subaru/IM doing badly?

Subaru/IM doing badly?
Obviously not.

Makes the £5000 I saved going to a supermarket all that much sweeter.
A fair few Scooby owners on here will have subsidised his rise up the list no doubt.
The British car industry may have been rocked by the closure of Peugeot’s Ryton factory but it is boom time for car dealers. They have shot up the latest Sunday Times Rich List as a raft of sales, takeover bids and mergers have boosted the value of dealerships.
Topping the list of the most wealthy dealers is Robert Edmiston of IM Group, a Birmingham-based car distribution business, who has an estimated fortune of £410m (up from £380m last year), followed by Sir Arnold Clark, a Glasgow-based dealer, on £385m (up from £365m), Jack Tordoff, owner of the dealership JCT600, on £172m (an increase of £50m on the previous year) and Sir Peter Vardy, who recently sold his Reg Vardy dealerships and now has a personal fortune estimated at £150m.

Michael Dell set up his business about the same time I did mine. He's worth hundreds of millions of $ and I'm not. Good luck to the likes of him and the IM bloke. I won't lose any sleep.

I think you've both missed my point, and it's not about someone being on the rich list.
It's the fact that some on here carry on about the Scoobys demise in the UK whereas plainly IM are not in any position to be worried.
It also explains why Subaru dealers couldn't care less about their customers and won't move on price or provide a good level of service.
And it shows what sort of company IM are when they refuse to honour Subarus international warranties.
It basically says to me that they are ripping off customers. You have a niche dealer being the richest, whereas I would expect it to be a Vauxhall/Ford/Nissan/Toyota dealer chain whose volumes are much bigger.

niche?
IM do more than just scoobys.
there were only just over 8000 subarus of all models sold in the uk last year (figure from autocar)
doubt he made his fortune from that few scoobys

Compared to Ford which sells 30,000 a month.

How IS that clapped out old heap of crap that you bought and won't run??
You know, the car you bought from a Supermarket ... that tacky Import!?
Running now, is it? Or is it still awaiting a UK dealer to fix it before you buy and proclaim a big saving??

The worrying thing is that it is at a UK dealer - their competency is the luck of the draw it seems.

I've had 7 new Scoobs, all from UK dealers, and never had any hassles - on delivery or otherwise. Almost 300,000 hassle free miles now.
Tough luck with your car Kiwi. Hope you get it sorted soon - honestly.
Cheers
PS Pete does sort of have a point however...

I think Subaru cars in general are good value for money. Just wish IM would bring in some of the proper Daihatsus line the Boon X$ so I can get rid of the Scoob and get something even better !

Genuine Parts...that's where they are making the ££££. Oh and not to mention the £5K mark up on new cars compared to the equivelent EU version - which vitually is the same car.
Surprising? Not really - if people pay it, they'll charge it.
And parts have you screwed over as no major alternative supplier is interested - with it being such a minority car to be worth catering for.

He makes his money by importing Scooby's. Isuzu's and Daihatsu's.
Paid himself £12 million last year for doing so too.
Still, it seems he does a lot for disadvantaged children, so fair play to him.

Which means even though he is rolling in it, he shown a greater generosity of spirit than this bitter and twisted old tosser. What a ****
