Default Anyone claimed off French car insurance ??

Got a knock on my front door tonight. The French lass who moved into one of the appartments who's parking space is next to mine has kindly reversed into the rear quarter of my car The damage isn't too bad, she's reversed in slightly on an angle, and her car being LHD mean's that she must have been reversing inches away from my car to start with, Stupid ******* Bitch !!!!!!!!

It's a MY 05 STI, and she's scratched the rear wheel arch strip, and slighty scratched the rear Alloy (Only minor). Being French, and only lived here a few weeks, her car is insured with a French Car company (Don't know which one, she has to phone Franch to get it all sent to her). She say's that if it doesn't cost much she'll pay by cash, but if not it'll have to go through the insurance.

Has anyone on here every had to deal with French car insurance companies ?? Did it all go smoothly ? Did they insist on having it repaired at a centre of there choice ?

Things like this make me wish I'd bought a house with a driveway & garage now.

Remember if you claim it WILL go against you for the next 5 years. Even if you dont loose your no claims bonus your premium WILL rise.

I think there is some EU law that means insurers must provide minimum 3rd party in all EU countries.

no it wont.. will be classed as non-fault as long as your own insurance does not pay out anything at all. if the 3rd party pays all expenses then no probs. only prem increase if at fault claim as it is showing a higher risk. however, claim must be advised to all insurers for 4yrs. they will ask if fault or non-fault.

.....and the insurance will still rise when you say you've had a non-fault claim. It happend to my boss whoose insurance jumped £200 His car was hit when it was parked up too!

Not that nice, but you probably would once
To be honest, it did cross my mind, cos I invited her in to my flat so I could write down her name etc. I was sat opposite her thinking about suggesting another way for her to pay, but decided against it in the end............... I noticed the engagement ring. Plus, I didn't want to run the risk of her kicking me in the Bollox either.

Do that and you are asking for trouble should you need to claim in the future.

Yeh, I know. I'll have to see. Hopefully she'll just pay up in cash, and it'll all just go away. However, she's bound to say insurance, known my luck at the moment.

Anyone have any idea how much a dealer will charge for the rear wheel arch strip, painted & fitted? I have it booked in for it's 10,000 mile service this coming Friday, so I'll get a price then, but if anyone has any idea's ???
