Default Sport bonnets

Quick and easy questions- Did the classic non-turbo impreza have an aluminium bonnet for any special editions?

Would i notice any major difference in handling if i fitted a steel one in place of an alu bonnet, the steel bonnets being a fair bit heavier?

Will a facelift sport bonnet bolt straight onto a My93 fitted with a fmic, facelift lights and grill? If not, what alterations need to be done?

Thanks in advance

I'm not aware of any Sports which came with aluminium bonnets, although a call to Subaru parts dept might confirm this.

Facelift bonnet will fit with facelift lights/grille. The fact that it's a Sport bonnet won't make any difference to the fitment (that I'm aware of).

Thanks for the replies, i thought a facelift/sport bonnet would go straight on but needed to have it confirmed.

So would the handling be compromised with a heavier bonnet?

Sara did you notice a difference when you fitted the lighter one?

i have a scoop in mine and ive noticed that it moves/wobbles a bit on the motorway. i dont know if its cos its light or just the material its made from. i havnt noticed the weight difference cos a scoob is a heavy car. but if the car is lighter it must mean the car weighs less so less petrol used i'd say

heres mine...

The wifes 98 sport wagon as the ally bonnet, lightweight,As far as im aware it,s just a case of headlights bonnet and front section to fit facelift, wings and fittings are the same, also there,s not a great difference in weight between them so it would,nt have any effect on you handling,if concerned add about 2LB of air to front tyres

But the drag of the scoop will more than compensate for the lighter bonnet.

Stewbie, thanks for letting me know that ally sport ones were made

I was thinking more of how cornering ability would be affected with a heavier bonnet (as well as a fmic) over the front wheels. Ive got a close ratio box so top speeds arent an issue!

Sara, nice scoop!
