Default Sti Type R fuel consumption

Hi peeps.

Now that I've done a tank of fuel to get an idea of consumption etc thought I'd check what others get to make sure it's as others get.

First tank worked out at around 21mpg

Currently used half of the 2nd tank and done 140 miles, not refilled yet to work out mpg on it.

Driving has been mixed, but nothing majorly hard on the go pedal etc.

As an aside, do people with full de-cats, front pipe, turbo back exhaust etc get a lot of popping and banging from the exhaust, mine is always doing it once the exhaust has warmed up, or could this be the sign of something amiss with a sensor somewhere causing it to overfuel at slight throttle and cruise etc?

Thanks

Ross

MY97 STI Version 3 V-Limited 555

Taking it easy: 32 mpg (v-limited has a long 5th gear)

Mix of driving: 27 - 29 mpg

That's on optimax with a bottle of millers octane plus in every tank. I keep an account of my spending on the car so those figures are quite accurate.

I was expecting fuel consumption to be a lot worse, but it's quite easy to live with.

Brian.

I always get around 20 mpg with mixed driving, rarely any change in fuel consumption.

Popping and banging is quite normal

STi JDM v4 here. Only measured 2 tanks accurately so far, both a mix of driving but a bit more motorway in the second, 25mpg and 27mg.

Was hoping for a little more on the second tank but an average of 25mpg is way above what I was expecting so it's all good

Spirit, does yours have the short ratio gearbox as in the RA and Sti Type R (not v-limited)

I'm assuming the higher rpms even at just 70-80mph don't aid the fuel consumptyion, I'm not overly shocked at it to be honest, just making sure its getting what it should.
