Question

Whilst watching the last two rounds of the WRC I have noticed an orange glow through the tailpipe of the WRX WRCs, does anyone know why this happens?

I find it hard to believe that the exhaust is so hot as to glow that close to the tailpipe. Is it a feature of the tarmac spec cars only or is it just more obvious because of the smooth surface?

I saw the red glow as well....

Fantastic.

Last time I saw something like that was on a Merc SEC which passed me rather quickly on the M69 a number of years ago.... Glowing like a cherry it was

Its down to the new softer anti lag. Noise regs prohibit the bangs of old anti lag, so they now use more smaller bursts.

The heat build up is intense and you imagine how long the exhaust and turbo will last

The Corrollas used the same system, with the same glowing exhausts

Question

does the wrc also have a permanent fuel supply injected into the turbo?im sure someone told me other wrc's did.
would this help it to glow, aswell as being able to spit flames?

Steve,

The fuel injected into the exhaust turbine of the turbo IS the antilag system.
