Hello from California.
I thought I'd stop lurking and finally register.
Name is Paul & I own a Subaru Tuning Shop in Roseville, California.
No, I'm not advertising, seeing as none of you would drive to California just to have me tune your car.
I have a few questions for you:
1. When reading hp numbers on this forum, is that at the wheels? If so, what type of dyno is being used?
2.What octane fuel are these hp numbers being done on?

Most power figures people post are at the crank.
Minimum octane will be 95RON but most people will use between 97 and 99 RON
Must be a slow bodyshop!!

The power is measured at the wheels then an allowance is made for transmission losses to give the engine power at the crankshaft.
It seems to be this which leads to differing power levels from different dynos.
Hope you get the car sorted soon, is it a 2litre turbo or 2.5litre....?

Making up for California's woderful 91 octane fuel by using an Aquamist setup and a custom-tuned ecu, she makes 315lbs-ft & 265hp at the wheels.

are USDM 2.5 non turbo or with ( sorry if that a stupid question)

Nice part of the world but yes as someone said rain in california?
Nice to see a 'proper' car in the US rather than the gaz guzzlers that go quick in a straight line and panic at the first corner!

Hi Paul, oops at your mishap.
I know and have been to Roseville as we have an office on Foothills Boulevard. Good to know there is a scooby tuner in the neighbourhood if I ever get sent back there.

Boosty: Here in the States, all STi's are 2.5l w/ turbo. All MY2006 WRX/STi/Legacy/Forester are 2.5l w/ turbo.
While rare, it does rain in California. And that's when calamity on the roads happen.
Kinda like when the sun shines in England.
Our fuel is rated (RON + MON)/2.
The only thing that was damaged was my ego. Presently, the repair quote is about $15,000.

I just delivered a new LR TEIN coiloverassembly to the shop so they can get started on it. Had to buy a whole kit for one f'ing strut.
