Default WRC Technologies 350bhp upgrade

In this months Japaneese Performance Mag there is an article on the 350 upgrade for an STI for £2,500.
They also have a 330 BHp upgrade listed. The main difference seems to be a APS Intercooler. Does this mean the standard Intercooler can only cope with a max of 330 BHP.
Has anyone any experience of these upgrades as they seem very impressive or can you get better at cheaper prices. I am in N.Yorkshire so would be nice for a local dealer.

i have been doing a bit of investigating myself on this subject and "while i may be wrong " its all about charge temps, ignition advance etc.
the standard one will do for 370 yes but the aps will help the motor produce the power in a safer more controled way,ie less ignition, boost etc.but like i said "i may be talking out of me bum"

WRC happen to flog APS parts, and a big intercooler is one of them!
Without going further into the good and bad of the conversion, take a look at the recent thread on the very subject from just a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the response. Do I take it each tuner is biased towards which are the best based on what make of parts they can supply competitively.

the aps I had was all very nice till it got hot ( bugeye wrx, not STI )

never took any temp readings from the tb but after 2 runs on the rolling road at scoobyclinic it was boiling to the touch and not worth another run

Drove down the road in to the town its about 8 mile ish of slow stop start town driving, stopped the car and intercooler still boiling

20 mile run down the motorway and it was coolish again

its so deep it seemed to soak heat like a sponge and it takes along time to get cool

you would need to talk to a mapper etc to find out if they think they are any better than the STI version, My car didn't make noticeable improvements over other similar spec cars with newage sti intercoolers

i now have an aps FMIC

It would be interesting to hear from other pros on scoobynet to see what they think about the 350 upgrade, (may be ones that don't sell the aps tmic) as no other tuners seem to be repeatably getting those types of figures from the vf35

if nothing else the aps does look very nice under the bonnet and is top quality - probably makes more of a differenceon the open road than baking on a rolling road

I still have the standard STI Top mount on mine. And over 350bhp.

I think as stated above, I may be on the limits though and am also thinking about an APS front mount.
