This is proportional to the D/P diameter. Assuming it is 3" and subject to your wrapping style, you need about 38 feet of 2" wrap.
DEI exhaust wrap comes with a stitching down the side so you have a visual guide for the correct margin.
Best to buy 50 feet X 2" of DEI.

Harvey, do you have the formulas for calculating the amount of heat wrap you need as I am looking at doing the down-pipe and centre section on my exhaust. I will also have to redo the headers and up-pipe. cheers steve

Just answered my own question.

Instruction Sheet for Part Numbers:
#010101 1-inch Exhaust Wrap #010110 2-inch Exhaust Wrap Kit
#010102 2-inch Exhaust Wrap #010111 2-inch Exhaust Wrap Kit
#010112 2-inch Exhaust Wrap Kit
IMPORTANT – READ BEFORE STARTING
NOTE: Studies have shown that correctly wrapping utilizing a ¼” overlap,
produced the best results and did not adversely affect headers.
Design Engineering, Inc. thanks for choosing DEI Exhaust Wrap.
Lets Get Started…….
·
Step 1 For 1" wrap skip to step 2. If you are using 2" wrap, measure each primary tube from
the exhaust port flange, to the start of the collector and use the chart below to determine the length to
cut the exhaust wrap. Add (8”) eight inches for each bend in the tube.

Example: 1-1/2” primary tube measures 32” and has two (2) bends. You would cut that piece for 102”.
Hint: Cut material for one tube at a time to limit chances for mistakes.
·
Step 2 Start wrapping the primary tube tightly at the exhaust port and secure with an (8”) 8-inch
DEI Stainless Steel Locking Tie or hose clamp. When you have completely wrapped the pipe to the
start of the header, secure with an (8”) 8-inch DEI Stainless Steel Locking Tie or hose clamp. After
you have wrapped the primary tubes, proceed to wrap the collector securing both ends with (14”) 14-
inch DEI Stainless Steel Locking Tie or hose clamp.
Again, it is important to overlap ¼”.

Hint: Where primary tubes are real close, you may find it necessary to use a pry bar to separate the tubes enough to
feed the material between them.
·
Step 3 To protect your DEI Exhaust Wrap and make it easier to clean, use DEI HT Silicone
Coating. This will also enhance the appearance of the wrap. Included in our Exhaust Wrap Kits, or
available separately as #010301 for Black, #010302 for Aluminum or #010303 for White

DO NOT USE A HIGH PRESSURE HOSE TO WASH YOUR WRAPPED HEADERS.
·
Step 4 It is always important to start your vehicle in a well ventilated area. Your newly wrapped
headers may smoke slightly for a short period of time. This is normal. Should you have any
questions, please call:

The Following Chart is For 2" Wrap only. Not to be used as guide for 1" Wrap

Step 4 May smoke slightly for a while? are they joking?

more like, they will smoke heavily for ages and attract shed loads of attention from passers by who think your car is on fire!
