My V4 type r pulls away from my mates evo 5 by quite a bit on straights with only mild mods. (filter, decat, apexi). The top end of his car is slightly quicker than mine though as it has i higher top speed

Most TypeR's see over 300BHP at Rolling Roads with a decat, decent filter and bigger fuel pump. But that is on the original 100ron JDM map, so you will have to run Octane Booster.
Mine was mapped for drivability and bullet proof reliability on a purely 97/98 ron petrol basis.
If you can stretch the budget to a 5/6 and get a TEK remap, or fit Apexi or other aftermarket ecu, you can start to creep into the mid 300's.
In terms of power only, I would suggest the following order (after decat etc):
Apexi or other aftermarket ecu, professionally mapped.
Bigger Pump and Regulator to max out the 440 injectors
Better Dump valve.
TD05 FE
550 or bigger injectors
Hybrid Front Mount Intercooler.
Then you can start upping the spec of the Turbo etc.
Although, the best bet would be to sink and extra £1000 into an already, or partly modified car. Much cheaper in the long run and you get the benefits NOW.

when did the model report law come into effect ? does this mean Keighley have had these same scoobs in stock for however many months ?

You are a brave man if you are buying from there fella,
I went there last year and looked at a 96 STI, the check engine light was on, it was smoking badly, it had not been cleaned inside or out, and the staff didnt give a **** wether I was going to buy a car or not, and at the far end of the huge unit they have there must have been a couple of hundred spray cans for those quality repairs.
Save your money and try some where else.

i know ive heard about there reputation, but i figuare, i aint one for looking after a car anyway, and its not like its not going to get the **** thrashed out of it anyway ! and if it blows up it will be a good excuse to rebuild it with more power
any suggestions on a price for a genera rebuild upto 350-380bhp ? my father in law can build it all up, so it would be just a case of parts and mapping etc !

Same as everybody else has said. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THERE. I know every crap garage accidentally sells a good car, even them!! They are few and far between at that place. My mate bought an mr2 turbo from there which blew up within a couple of months of having it.
Theres plenty of other places to look for cars.
