Default HELP....!! fitting ****

just got a shiney new ****, momo race airleather/alu for my classic facelift. But it seems to want to go on too far?! ive removed standard **** and there is a solid metal ring bit on the shift rod that means i cant get momo collar down low enough to fit **** and screw in grub screws.

what do i need to do? file off the metal bit? this seems a bit drastic!! or am i trying to push **** too far down??

HELP!!!

There's not normally a ring on the gear lever just screw threads

Usually with the after market Momo's you need to fit a rubber sleeve before fitting the gear ****

there is a metal ring as part of the shaft, at the bottom of the thread.??!! why is my shaft weird?!!

there was a rubber sleeve and this pushed right up into the inside of the ****. so now i cant get momo screw collar low enough to get allen key in to tighten grubs!!

should the grubs be tightening into the shaft or into the rubber sleeve??
