Advice needed, buying a Sti
I have seen a nice impreza sti, and according to the owner it was imported into the uk by main dealer from new, However when i have done a Hpi report on it, its come back as a GL and the owner said this is due to dvla not having sti registered??
Is this fishy?
Thanks for your time

I don't think it is that unusual for the DVLA to get it wrong, but the owner should have had it corrected...
But do the usual checks to be sure it is an Sti, AFAIK the chassis number will give you the answer in addition to checking for the usual Sti bits and pieces.. buyer beware and all that

What the owner has said is true to a point. Some imported Imprezas are down as GLs because the DVLA didn't know how to classify them - don't forget the people inputting the data probably have no idea about different versions of Impreza.
Whether this applies to this car I don't know - I thought it only happened to a few in the early days.
As an Aside my GFs Astra 98 is down on the DVLA register as 16 valve - I opened the bonnet and find an 8 valve staring at me - DVLA made a mistake and no amount of letters will make them change it.
