Ok, it's like this...
Despite having tooled past various Police vehicles on occasion, I have never once been pulled over whilst driving my Impreza in a total of 18 months.
My previous car, an Inca Yellow TR7V8 might as well have been on the force, the number of times it was surrounded by the constabulary - But they were just honestly interested in it.
So, you lot, how many times have you been pulled over by the boys in blue? Do we have a clear winner??
No long stories though - They're for other threads.

Got my Scooby Dec '99
Never been stopped yet (touching wood as i type, easy if you type with one finger only)
Never really given them a reason too - honest officer
I used to get stopped 'bout once a month when i had bikes - stuff like bald tyres on the stabilisers and improper use of the bell, that sort of thing

I've never been stopped in my Scooby either, although I do try and disguise the roar of the SS exhaust when I'm passing the boys in blue.
Got pulled over 3 times in 3 months when I first passed my driving test. I was only driving my Mums Vauxhall Chevette !!

Never in any car, when I first got the Turbo every police car followed me, I kept below 5mph less than the speed limit, they got bored, normally after about 5 minutes and left me alone. After the first month I have been left alone.

In the Scooby - not yet (only had for a month). Seems the crapper the car I've had the more pulls.
In nearly 15 years driving, I reckon I've been pulled 30 times. Most of which were in the first 5 years. I've not been pulled for the last 5 years.
I'll probably get pulled on my way home tonight now...
Jerome.

Been stopped only once in over ten years, and that was in a Volvo 340 . I was driving the wrong way down a one-way street though.
Had the scoob five months and not even a second look.

I went past a police car (omega) at 40 (speed limit ) and he was parked up. The went up a hill and into a 70 zone. So I went from 40 to 70. He must have heard me accelerate as I saw him pull out.
I slowed down to 60 wondering what was going on. Next second I was watching my rear view and saw him come flying over the hill (no lights going) in the outside lane (with only me in the inside lane) then the car nose dived as he was going a bit quicker than me and hit the brakes. He pulled in behind me and followed me at 60 in a 70 for about a mile then overtook me.
I never saw him again and the only thing I could think was expecting me to be well into 3 figures when he came over the hill. Or he ran a numberplate check on me.
Who knows but he didnt stop me, strange experience.
cheers

Never been stopped in 4 years of Scooby ownership. However, I get stopped all the time in my Land Rover 90tdi and often suffer the hassle of the tank being dipped. I reckon if I had a diesel Impreza (God forbid) I'd get stopped a lot more often at much slower speeds!

Did I really say diesel Impreza?

Used to get stopped in my XR3i, XR4x4 days 10-15 years ago but they don't seem too bothered now.
Drive to work at 5am just prior to Police shift change and traffic cars are always parked up in a local garage, they never come after me, must be finishing their paper work.
Cheers

Never been stopped in a Subaru in 2 years.
Got breathalysed in my Mk1 Seat Ibiza diesel GLX. They probably thought I had to a p###head to buy it!
How wrong they were! They were visibly put out cos I had come out of a pub car park and tested negative. They even sent trading standards the next day to check the landlord didn't water down his beer!

I have never been stopped in 2 and a bit years of owning a MY98 5 door, which I think is both luck and also the 5 door not being quite so raucous looking as a 4 door or coupe.
However, my fiancee who shall remain nameless got stopped about 6 months ago at about 11pm by plod after not having driven for months and within 200yards of having started. She was following me as I was dropping off a rental van, I pulled out left into light traffic on the Finchley Road in London, near Golders Green. Now about 40yds to my right as I did this was a slow moving plod. My fiancee shot out after me in the scoob and hey presto plod pulls her... and I stop and wander back to see what's happened.
And this is the best bit. "He says to her, didn't you see me?" She replies "yes I did, did I cause you to slow down?" He replies, "No you didn't slow me down because I'm a good driver etc.... However, there are lots of people at this time of night who have been drinking who might not have been able to stop!"
At this point I think he's having a laugh, look for the camera and have to ask for his warrant card as I am not convinced he's a real plod - he is. I ask him if he's serious, and point out that he already admitted that he didn't have to slow down, and therefore what's the problem.
Anyway, he's ok and off we go. I managed to stop myself heading into the drink-driver rant.
Perhaps us 5 door owners aren't so inconspicuous after all

I've not been stopped in the Scooby but have had two funny incidents in other cars and I swear to God they are both true
In my R19 16V I overtook a police dog van on a country lane. The road was straight, the limit was 60, he was doing 30 so no problems. Next thing, blue lights......
PC: "You were in a bit of a rush"
ME: "Not really"
PC: "Do you know how fast you where going"
ME: "Yes, about 55"
PC: "Do you know what the limit is here"
ME: "Yes, it's 60"
PC: "In that case, be more careful next time".
In an Escort (I was young) and was once pulled over in a police road block. I was told to step away from the car and then asked if I'd just nicked a caravan! I didn't even have a tow bar. Doh!

Hmmm...Interesting...We seem in the main to be left well alone. I was surprised, having been given all the warnings by my dad (copper!) about not being followed home, etc, etc...
The only funny incident I recall is joining a dual-carriageway with little traffic on it and approaching a polic astra. I slowed to 55mph and was quite happy to sit well behind it. He gradually slowed down until at 40mph I indicated, pulled out and overtook.
As soon as I'd pulled back in, he was around me and keeping station on my right shoulder. He crept forward, and as his a-pillar came forward a turned to look...
He was flicking me the finger !!!!
Double-Take City Arizona - It was my dad, the git.
I dutifully followed him for miles until he pulled over to inspect a truck in a lay-bye with the cab tilted forward. I tooted the horn and floored it.
When we next spoke, he said he'd expected me to do the same as soon as I knew it was him. I didn't think that would have been proper given the traffic that had built up around us...
Anyway, back to the thread - If your car gets knicked, either hope your dad is a policeman and is local, or you've got a good tracking device!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once I got pulled after having pulled out of a pub car park. I was picking my car up from the previous day, so wasn't worried about D&D. Anyway, a panda car saw me pulling out of the pub and tailed me for several miles. Had no complaints about being pulled, 'cos there was reasonable suspicion of drink driving. However the 'reason' for the pull I was told was "a known disqualified driver is driving a car that fits the desciption of yours". I had to laugh. After a short chat, I got back in my Chevette and drove home, without even being breathalysed.

Maybe its just because the police know that they have no chance of catching one so they dont bother just in case.

Pulled in a 1.3 Talbot Horizon for making the wheels spin!!! It was the fan belt.
Pulled in an XR3i cab for having an XR3i and driving out of a pub car park. was told that that was the reason and breathalysed (all clear of course).
Pulled in a Sapphire because two coppers in a meat wagon didn't like the way I pulled out of a junction. (I thought they were builders, and I had enough time to nip out)
Pulled in MR2 for SP50 (oops)
Pulled in WRX type RA to be told by hants constabulary, who couldn't identify the vehicle without help, 'we've got a proper one.'
Have you? Mine's dead slow, didn't you smash yours up?

Morning,
I have only been stopped once in Huddersfield, by a blue FIESTA!!!!!! Undercover drugs unit wanted to know my details and had obviously radioed in to check my number.
He pulled up along side and started waving and so i thought you cheeky bugger! He then produced his warrant card and walkie talkie so i did pull over but I was very careful to only put the window down a little to inspect his ID!
Don't tend to get a second look in Hull as I know the Police Impreza Squad very well! However, a jam sandwich Omega nearly had a fit when I was in a friends 22B Type UK coming onto the Clive Sullivan dual carriageway at a progressive pace!
Cheers,
Jon.

I got stopped in my old Metro for doing 50 in a 30, but as I genuinely though it was a 40, it was 2AM, and I was still in uniform from the late shift I'd just done at Maccy D's, they let me go with a rucking.
Got stopped once in my less old Corolla when I took a roundabout 'enthusiastically', but I had noticed the cop car joining the roundabout from the other side when I went round. I went at limit for a while, before eventually being pulled over and quizzed before being allowed on my way.
And sort of stopped once, when I spun my Supra in front of a policeman, who was pulled up doing a spot-check on someone else. It was a genuine accident (and I didn't hit anything substantial), so after I kissed a lot of ***, and pointed out my inexperience with RWD, he cautioned my with 'Driving without due care and attention', and sent me on my way. Never heard anything about it again (well over 6months ago)
Net result - clean license (somehow).

Aero,
Now thats not very nice is it, the poor Hants officers are without their toy now... From what I heard it was stuffed into the back of a lorry on the A303, allegedy NOT in pursuit....
A couple of mates had been out one night, returning home the driver took a corner a bit quick, local panda car just happened to be passing so pulled him over for a chat. Asked where he was going, replied "such and such a road to take my mate home..." who happened to be more than a bit merry still sat in the car. Copper approached him and said "You're richard *** aren't you ?" Somewhat confused and taken aback ( remember, he was alot merry ) answered in the positive. Copper then replies "Oh, I've just met your parents, I'm afraid to say your cars' been stolen". Richard doesn't like seeing coppers about in case they tell him another cars' been nicked
