Default Prova Chip 'Help'

Av recently put my 95 wrx import back on the road.
Ah bought a chip in jan and took the ecu out for the first time last week,
where ah found a Prova board in the spare ic socket.
The car it's self has had a knock around the 3500/rmp mark for a while.
probably more so after the blitz decat was fitted.
av been told allsorts of different things by different people but ruled out bottom end knock straight away. Ah was directed to scoobynet and found that the Prova board is suitable for 100ron fuel. Would this cause detination problems & Could this be the cause of the knock am hearing?

Cheers

'Knock' or pre ignition usually sounds like a can of drawing pins being shaken in a can.

If the Knock is more like banging a spanner on the block then its probably big ends.

If its more like diesel then is probably piston slap.

To b honest it sounds top end rather than bottom. Driver side around the turbo area. Its a definate knock but not really loud.

if the chip is for 100 ron then yes it is more than likely causing your det. !00 ron map and probably an agressive timing one at that will lead to a short lived engine in my opinion
