Default Another problem with a scooby lol

Right my check engine light has been on fir 3 weeks and while waitin for my mechanic to scan and check it cause he been on holiday ive carried on drivin it with no hassle and ive took it easy in it.

Ne way on the way to take it to him yesterday the car died on me i thought it may be lack off fuel so lucky i broke down next to a garage pushed it in and put £15 off fuel in it would not start after 20m it started but died 20seconds later.

So i get the tow truck out and drop to car a my mechinacs he looks at it this morning and started first time left it running for 10 15 min turned it off then to do the check engine check thingy then it wouldnt start. He reckons a tempo sensor may have gone.

Can i have ur thoughts on this please any help will greatly be recieved ??

Its a 93 WRX by the way ???

My thought is that you shouldnt be driving 3 weeks with the check engine light on! Were you in limp home mode with limited revs etc? Madness!

could you not have used the plugs under the steering column to see what faults it bought up then you would of had an idea yourself

Why didnt you read the CEL fault code, acheived by plugging the 2 green connectors together, and 2 black connectors together, found under the steering column and starting the car this would have made the CEL flash, long flashes followed by short flashes this would have given you the code ie 2 long flashes = 2,4 short flashes = 4,therefore 24 would be the fault code you can then look it up using the power of the internet.
A search on here would have told you how to do it and if the search facility was down you could have posted in the general technical forum as soon as the CEL came on

hope its not too bad

You need to read the fault code from the ECU, this should point you in the right direction, scoobynutta is right, wait to get it sorted.
May be crank sensor?
