Question My keyfob sets the car alarm off !!

Don't know if anyone has experienced similar, but about a month ago one of my standard Subaru keyfobs stopped working. With a new battery in it still doesn't work, unless I press the button for about 20 seconds continuous, at which point the red light on the fob lights up and then the alarm goes off!! The other keyfob works perfectly.

Has anyone had a similar experience - and is there an easy fix? Car is a UK MY99 with Subaru fit alarm / immobiliser.

Mant thanks,
Steve.

p.s. as an amusing aside pressing the keyfob button also makes my neighbours' doorbell ring!!!!
