Default Subaru Brake Pads

Need some pads for my new 4 pots, but need to get them today.

Are the standard Subaru ones any good?

I tried EBC Red Ceramic and wore them out in 6k miles I'd recommend Ferodo DS2000, Mintex 1144/1155 or Pagid Black (RS4.2.1 IIRC). Should be able to get them all from AS Performance next day delivery I think

The standard Subaru Pads are excellent, I am still on mine 65,000miles later - with NO wear tab squeal either!!

I think they are EXCELLENT!!

How much are they?? Subaru have cut the costs substantially.

Gotta add my 2p worth... Only just fitted new OE discs from the local stealer and a set of Pagid RS4.2.1 Blacks from Alyn at ASPerformance. Pads came about 9:30am the next day. Braking is now miiiiles better and Alyn has also provided me with additional info in this thread: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=485710

Pagids are only marginally dearer than the OE pads and I would say I'm very happy with both the service received and the results.

Used to use Ferodo DS2500 but decided to try Pagid Blacks. Again from our mate Alyn

Just waiting to get my car back from its service now to bed them in.

Pagid 4.2.1's get my recommendation too. Same cold bite as O/E but get some heat into them and they are massively better. Would never be happy with the O/E pads again.

I find it very odd that anyone thinks 65,000miles out of the pads is strange??

On all my cars I have easily achieved these mileages ...

Then again I am a VERY skilled driver - if you are thinking far enough ahead you should never need to use the brakes!

Pete, be totally truthful and tell us what's the highest speed you've done in your scoob..? (and don't say 70 mph..!).

As you've previously stated you never exceed 2500rpm so it dosen't supprise me your pads are on 65k TBH..

I can highly recommend Alyn at ASP, just had a set of Padgid 421's, goodridge hoses (s/s fittings..!) and 1.5ltrs of Motul 5.1 delivered, next day, for a whisker over £200..!

Just waiting for some milder weather to get them fitted. (can't wait to get rid of the pedal (ABS) judder under hard braking..!)

Lets get something straight ...... I 'generally' stay under 2500RPM - most of everday driving doesn't need any more than that.

Occassionally, when the situation is right, hot engine, clear road, good surface, then I will have a little 'play' - would be a shame not to

Top Speed? Don't know exactly .... but I have been known to touch over 70 MPH

However, I do not drive like a plank as many on here think you HAVE to because you have an Impreza!!

Pete
