abs brake problem

Question abs brake problem

hi folks,
broke the abs sensor wire on front when medling with the suspention(****)anyway changed sensor for new one but light still on in dash and brakes lock up very easily,preyyt scary when going at speed! just wondered if anybody has had same problem and knows of any remedy its a 97 uk impreza cheers.

the abs light needs to be reset via obdII, providing there is no underlying fault.

abs will not cause the brakes to lock, they will do the reverse, they will release the brakes in the event of a lock condition.

if the abs light is on, the abs system has shut down, hence the light.

this is why your brakes appear to be locking up, they are operating as unaided braking, ie the wheel will lock when sufficient pressure is applied.

although if you are braking at speed with enough force to make the abs kick in unnder normal conditions, might i suggest you reduce your speed somewhat.

ans is not a device for reducing speed in a hurry
