I filled up as usual at Morrisons on the w/e and noticed the tanker on the forecourt. Something wasn't quite right and then it clicked. It was marked as Mrrsns and not Texaco. Also the forecourt banner had changed to Mrrsns. So I asked the cashier when this had changed. About two years ago - which can't be right - and then she said it was still supplied by Texaco. Surely this can't be right either?

I'm not convinced that the cashier knew what she was on about. Anyone know who's right?.

 

All comes from the same refinaries anyway

 

Hi all Ali-b is right it all comes from the same refinaries, 95 ron unleaded is made to a standard called EN 228,all brands are made to this standard only difference being the addatives put in, in the case of Texaco this is called clean system 3.
Other companys have thier own addatives.
So in this vain i think people who say that thier car runs better on one brand over another are talking bull.
Here we go open for an arguement.

Read the last Evo mag, they did a test on both supermarket fuel and SUL including Optimax.
All fuel is produced to the same standards but then branded fuel such as Esso or Total etc then add additives, detergent, ethanol etc.
All branded fuel is going to be more of the same than supermarket fuel as supermarket fuel could be bought from differant suppliers.

I think the bottom line is that if you feel you car runs better on a perticular type of fuel stick with that.
They also recommened using a busy petrol station as the supplies are changed more ofter.
Sometimes you will get lucky with supermarker fuel, I think the Asda 95ron they tested was one of the best and also one of the cheapest. But that doesn't mean that all asda'a are the place to go.

There's a bloke on here who swears by Sainsbury's fuel and has been told it's supplied by BP.

Personally I always fill up with Texaco rather than Tesco but it's just personal preference. The two petrol stations are only a couple of hundred yards apart so the Texaco garage is forced to keep its prices down and for an extra 1p/litre I think it's worth putting fuel in that you know has come from the same refinery every time and has the same additives, etc.

If I lived near a Shell Optimax garage I'd fill up there because my car definately feels more responsive on Optimax. However it's not worth the 30+ mile round trip just for a tank of fuel.
