Question oil on manifold

is right that i get oil on my manifold? i asked a mate the other day he said its a common thing with subarus and not to worry. is he right?

hardly.
could be a breather, the vta dumpvalve, a rocker cover or a combination of the above, amongst other things

would help if you gave a bit more description, is it neat thick black oil, is it slightly diluted "chocolate colour", where abouts on the manifold, all over, patches, 1 local area.
All that info would help
