Point of what? life, women, nipples on men, pubic hair?

Can't imagine why they'd choose a cr@ppy Lotus to try cracking 200. The programme is a bit **** though.

BTW it says a lot for Superchips that after 1 1/2 days mapping and £1000+ the AFR was 'off' leaving the engine to melt one of the pistons and a few valves..!

young man its actually 35k +7k for the car 9 years ago.
Capable of 200+ inside a mile & timed at 210.4mph so far will beat this fairly easily next time out. Why not come & have a go against this car chum & you will find out that its your car that goes like an old banger

Cheers Rod

I'm sure a second hand Ultima GTR would have cracked 200mph for much less money.

Rod,

Do you ever drive the car on these tests, or do you always leave it to Mark ?

I'm rubbish at 1/4 miling, and leave it to Steven, but I love the buzz from the top speed runs

Mark.
I did the first run and managed 193mph (Faster than the Corolla) & then a geezer in a cardy drivin one handed got in & did 206 he is truely MAD.
Of the 10 runs circa 200 ive done 4 Mark 6. Im over 60 & cant beat him, my ***** are getting smaller his bigger.

I doubt it.
The Factory car which holds the 0-100-0 world record only did 204 at a Dry Bruntingthorpe. The track we used was shorter & we managed 206 in the wet.
Ask Andy how hard it is to achieve 200mph in such a short space. He Knows !

Andy had not done 200mph at the time this kicked off, mine had done it 3 or 4 times.
I asked if they needed another car because Andy achieved that mark just before the shoot & i would have suggested he attend. They only wanted 2 cars

The aim was 200mph but if the car was running right it could have done it i reckon. Having a chocolate gearbox dont help though. Didnt the clear cover block off the cooling vents over the engine

Yup thats what he said, what gets me is that the engine in the esprit v8 is actually a 550bhp engine downtuned the 350bhp to save on having to use stronger parts

Isn't that a bit contradictory !

That would make all engines detuned versions, of what they could produce if we fitted stronger parts

Nope, they detuned the engine coz the gearbox could not take the power

i thought it was a good programme-it showed that even £30,000 cannot get you to 200mph if car has not been sorted properly ie not rebuilding, chocolate gearbox knacked clutch poor remapping and i bet the nos did not help a full 100bhp shot probably did it.
full respect to the sierra driver no rollcage/helmet etc in wet very brave ,tiff mentioned he had crashed at 200mph and was obviously a bit more wary.
fifth gear was good as it showed an attempt and its failure, same as evo mag trying to get round ring in 8 minutes-they show reality you do sometimes fail in your goals which is what happens in real life
