I have the same spoiler surely there not that insecure are they, must have made a right mess of the bootlid.......hope you get it sorted

It can be matched forensically; it depends whether youll allow them to fob you off or not. As you only have three days you might try asking to view it, or if necessary, buying the spoiler and the go along with a Police officer.....
On a seperate note Id suggest that no one sends the thieving c*nt an abusive message, as tempting as it is.

I would buy it, contact the police and say that you are going round. If they want to accompany you when you collect it then they are welcome to come and match it to the car. Either take police or Bouncer friends...or even just big tough guys! Ask if you can get better photos to get the condition of the paint too...taht might make it easier to see any mountings left on it. I would bid either way, you can always pull out as a non-paying bidder...what's he gonna do when you tell them that it is stolen property, call the police?

You could get a mate to "view" the spoiler and mark it in some way. Some way that is unique so that you could identify it as being yours.
You will have to think carefully as to what sort of mark would work/they could get away with. And also what sort of mark could be a good comparison, and not look fake.

Id echo wurzels comments - mine was ripped off also . Had at least 8 bolts thro the lid - needless to say the bottom stayed - what they did with the rest god only knows.

Talking of UV marker pens, probably a good idea for those of us with un-nicked spoilers to go out and write the postcode somewhere under the spoiler TODAY, just in case it is nicked. Might help when this sort of situation crops up.
