Goobye Scoob Hello EVO
#1
Folks,
Never actually met any of you, too busy with work etc..
I have been posting on here for a year, but sad to say all good things come to an end.
I just chopped my Scoob (green MY99) in against a Mitsubishi EvoVI Tommi Makinen delivery expected in 3-4 weeks
I test drove the GSR on saturday and I have a few comments to make.
Overall I thought the EVO was quieter, more refined, faster (standard UK scoob at least), better brakes, better suspension, better cabin, better all round in fact.
It also should be for the price too.
sad to go

But what was the actual point in putting up this topic as so many have? Was it just to try and depress anyone that spent money on their car and thought that they enjoyed driving it. Now they thinks its cr4p and a waste of their money thanks to you - thats nice of you, I'm sure all the scooby owners appreciate it.
Your sincerely
Martin
You could have just added to one of the existing topics that was already posted with one little post if you thought it was so important.

In my opinion there are plenty of fast cars out there and some are better than imprezas others arent but to me scooby ownership is a way of life .
Each to his own, enjoy your EVO.
cheers

Whats the phrase? horses for courses or something. My friend has just bought a new STi V, and is chuffed as **** with it. Good for him I say, he's got the car he likes and could have bought numerous other types.

Nothing wrong with the MY98 as far as I'm concerned!
But if you like the bbs so much and have posted for the past year, why leave.
There are, after all, shedloads of people posting who don't drive scoobs.
Anyway, Daihatsu are developing a 400bhp twin turbo supercharged model of their best selling "Move". Think I'll wait for this one before I go ...

Didn't mean to be so flippant. And have nothing against Daihatsu's.
Its just soooo many people go on about this car and that car and seem to forget to just enjoy what car you have. I mean, will you change your mind about a car on the strength of what is written within the bbs.
If it don't flick your switch, your wallet won't itch!

Hello MIP, it is an upgrade for you and is a good choice considering you had the MY98.
Over here the EVO VI TM edition is about 27% more expensive than a STI V5 Type R which makes the STI the better buy to me. Hence I bought the STI Type R a month ago.
My next upgrade if I can afford it is a Skyline GTR V Spec II. I won't consider the EVO because it is not so much of an upgrade as both the EVO and STI are of the same class. Just my humble opinion. Enjoy your new toy!!

Told us so about what, that an S3 is faster than a UK Scoob? So WTF has that got to do with this thread? Besides, the EVO would thrash an S3 even more than a UK Impreza would (using your own imagined logic)

ooooh
Looks like I bent a few people out of shape.
that was NOT my intention
Sorry for the delay in answering, i'm travelling in Europe at the moment
I had 3 main options,
Buy an import STI in the old shape, but I didn't want a car that was "old" before I even buy it.
mod the hell out of my MY 99 (would cost me lots and I didn't think I would ever see a return on my investment.
buy something else.
I decided to go the EVO route as it is a limited edition makinen version (more likely to have a high residual) has decent suspension/seats/brakes already, no mods required.
I loved my scoob, enjoyed the hell out of it, now I want something different. I could have gone the P1 route but I fancied a change.
I got 15K for my 99, with electric sunroof, AC, colour coded skirts/mirrors, 17" gold mims. I did however negotiate the hell out of the guy on extras and the price of the makinen. overall the deal was good, but the price he gave me for the scoob was disapointing. It was a good lever to negotiate for a discount though so overall I was happy.
once again, for the money, the scoob was awesome value, awesome fun, and I will be sad to see it go.
regards
