tesco in chelmsford was pretty packed this afternoon. probably 20/30 odd cars waiting to fill up. may be something to do with the 90.9p/litre price of unleaded though
i looked at the pump price for the first time in months when filling my car up yesterday - 101.9p for bp ultimate. ouch

Howdo Richard,
Local BP garage has just put up a sign - NO UNLEADED.
Good Job I filled up to the brim and got 20 litres in cans, that should last me a week
Also helps if your other half works for a company that keeps vast supplies on site for staff - Eh

This is terrible, if people stopped paniking and filling up with as many cans as they can get their hands on Im sure it wouldnt be half as bad. Were not facing nuclear war !!!

I can't believe after last time when the country wasvirtually ball to its knees that the government didn't learn from that experience. I found it shocking that such a simple protest could cause such a massive problem.and I'm sure this wasn't lost on the government.
I would imagine the oil refineries have developed new ways to prevent protesters blocking access.
Also wasn't it the case last time that the lorry drivers went on strike?? they don't seem to be on strike this time??
I was in high Wycombe this morning and there was a massive queue outside one of the Shell stations.

just spoke to a tanker driver, he says that they cannot block transporters getting out of refinerys like they did last time, it is illegal and police can step in, but they can just slow them down getting the fuel to the forecourts.
stop panic buying folks!!!

I've also read on the bbc news site that the protesters aren't even going to stop anyone getting out, its just going to be a protest no blockades are planned...

Is madness, I filled up yesterday, but cos I was on less than ¼ tank, queues right out the garage (and I live in rural Dorset) two pumps DERV only, and nearly had to smack some bloke that nipped down the car wash lane then cut back in to get to the pumps first.
Jerry cans everywhere, people are mad i'm sure of it.

well i'm totally fkcde thanks to all these sad gits!!!
i normally fill up from empty today and i cant get anywhere near a pump!!!!
i really cant understand the point of these protests....
the only people who get hit are us.
1. we have to wait in a queue miles long just to find out the garage is empty
2. the garages put the cost of petrol to 1.50 a litre cos every1 is buying.
protests to the petrol people...
they r rubbing their hands together.
they couldnt give a fkcu about it, more money in their pocket.
3 cars on drive with no petrol.
thanks every1 responsible for causing this.

The best of it is, there's no damn shortage! It's just panic buying.
Garages should impose a minimum charge of £30, so if you put less than that in the car, you still pay £30 (Motorbikes exempt they have little tanks), so no topping up stupid amounts. And with the extra that the anyone putting less than that in their tanks paid, they could drop the price a few p.
I filled up this AM with Optimax at 98.9, not a soul at the SS (8:45 AM), but they'd had queues at the weekend.
