Talking New Scoobier Needs Help

I have just bought a scooby on a L Plate, its a import and really clean, however i'm having a couple of mechanical problems,

When starting car cold, it drives great, but once warmed up and after giving it a bit of poke, it crunches into 2nd and 3rd gear, i've had gearbox oil changed and clutch fluid changed, but its still doing it, is there anything anyone can recommend, or is it a new box????? also the car runs midway up the temp gauge, uses no oil or water, but when its hot it really does have a funny smell, the water was very rusty in colour, and filthy , but thats also been changed, its nice and clean now, theres no back pressure either?? anyone any ideas?????

thanks

Barry

It's better to post technical questions in the technical forums.
There's a lot of help there.

I have exactly the same problem going from 3rd to 4th or 5th to 4th, took it to Subaru main dealer and they said it's almost definately a syncromesh problem and they see quite a few cases of it with the 5-speed boxes.

There are loads of posts on this forum for the same problem, could cost you a few quid I'm afraid because like me, your car's out of warranty(?).
