Question Need To Know What Model This Is.

Hey everyone. Im from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have a 1999 Impreza 2.5RS (yes non-turbo ). So I decided to get a swap. I was told it was a STi Version 4 Spec RA, but after looking at the plate in the engine bay (I got the whole front clip), I read that it was a GC8E2DD. That is a STi Type R right? What is the difference (engine/trans) between the Version 4 STi Type R and the STi Type RA? Here is a pic of the plate, maybe you guys can help me out:

Thanks in advance guys.

Type R STi right? Is there much of a difference from that and a Type RA? (Talking about only the engine/tranny)

dont think there is much difference mechanically, the gearbox may have a shorter 5th gear, but other than that its the interior where itll be different.....as in, if its an RA, it wont have much in the way of toys....

Don't think there's much difference, both should have a group N gearbox and DCCD.
Possibly shorter gearing on the Type R but could be wrong

2-door right hand drive.... Leon's RA Vltd

However, in answer to the question the model code suggests

WRX Coupe Type R STi Version 4 or
WRX Coupe Type R STi Version 4 V-Limited

The V-limiteds had a taller fith gear, making it more cruise-friendly on highways. The transmission code on yours is TY752VB5CA which gives

1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Final drive
3.083 2.062 1.545 1.151 0.825 4.444
Which is the close ratio box, no taller fith gear, meaning your car is a

WRX Coupe Type R STi Version 4

This presumes that the taller 5th Gear hasn't been added at some point in the car's life. The only way to tell is if this has been documented or to simply drive it. If there is a taller fith gear it'll feel slightly mis-matched against the other 4 ratios, won't pull as strongly when first engaged but will give a slightly improved top end. If it's in place, expect 4000rpm at 80mph in fith and do your best to hold on to your licence.

Couldnt tell by looking at it, its a front clip . cut off behind the dash.

So its a Version 4 STi Type R. Nice . Should be in my Impreza in about 2 weeks (engine/trans/ecu/harness). Also, this car was equiped with a SARD blow off valve. Ive never heard one before, does anyone have a video or sound clip of one (on a WRX or STi would be best). Thanks guys .
